Welcome, we are Hidden Harvest, an initiative that aims to generate discussion about food waste through culinary pop-up dinners prepared with food that would normally be thrown out. During these up-cycle events we will, quite literally, bring to the table the environmental and social problems of food waste in a delightful setting.

Food waste is an issue that affects everyone in the food supply chain; from wholesale and manufacturing food companies to restaurants, retailers and farmers, as well as the consumer. Wasting food is also a waste of resources such as water and energy used in production, packaging and transport of food, not to forget the significant greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by the decomposition of food in landfills. It is estimated that Australian households throw out $AU 8 Billion of edible food every year, the equivalent of 4 million tonnes of food.
So let’s get together and make that first step towards less food waste!

How does it work?
1. We pick a date, find a suitable location and invite
anyone interested in an enriching and lively evening.
2. Foods that would otherwise be wasted but are still edible
will be collected and transformed into a scrumptious
3-course dinner by the Chef of the evening.
The menu will always be unique using the harvest of the day.
3. Enjoy and consume the creative compilation of the chef
4. Make a donation towards the event of which the proceeds will be
used to set up and/or support other waste reduction projects.
